Very interesting post...but a bit lengthy. I totally agree that out of some 10 games installed on phones we choose to play only 2-3 and rest we just install as it SOUNDS good but is most of the times copy of some originally hit game.

Interesting insight on a gamer's perception of the various aspects in a game and his / her expectations from the game. A must read for all those trying to create the next Angry Birds clone. :-)

I all have certain advantages over the others that would ensure their presence on the web platform as a whole. But since we are talking about the games, I think that Unity 3D seals the deal.

Unity 3D is a full fledged Game Engine. Apart from just realistic physics ( courtesy : nVidia PhysX ) , it has advanced graphics shaders which also offer high customization. Infact there are 30 prebuilt shaders which include specular shaders, decals with support for bump mapping. It can withstand high polygon counts, the main soldier of the Unity Bootcamp game demo has over 15,000!Just a look at the Bootcamp demo is enough to convince anyone about the engine's capability. But since not every one reading this post will do it, I'll break it down. :-)

The normal maps and light maps are rendered really fast and Unity technologies claim that the Unity Javascript is upto 20 times faster than other platforms. This also ensures the ability to compile hardcore scripting such as that for realistic AI.
Particle systems, realistic water, terrain editor, skyboxes, lens flares, programmable and event driven physics, you name it. Its the Unreal engine of the web!
With the pro version, you get real time shadows ( I think soft shadows also but not sure ) , really good camera and audio effects.
It also has really great acceptance in the indie community as the free license version can publish on iOS and Android and with other licenses, you get PS3 and XBOX too. Due to easy porting across these platforms developers just want to learn only the Unity Engine and cross platform development which is usually such a pain is literally a click away.

I cant really say much about HTML 5. From my limited reading, I am really sure that its going to take the multimedia content to the next level. But at the same time, the games would have evolved too.

Unity obviously has what it takes to do that, but can HTML 5 do it? I dont know, however I heard that Unreal or Doom,( I forgot which one ) was ported and running on it well.

Honestly I am not at all surprised to hear what Zynga has to say. Given the history of their products (ie. pseudo games that are mothing but UI accompanied with sound and lackluster 3D models with bright and fancy colored photo-unrealistic textures ) they don't really need some high end 3D graphics rendering engine.

So far developers have been hindered because of low broadband speed and penetration, due to which high quality visuals and high budget games were not affordable. With this problem being rubbed away fast, online interactive content needs to evolve and give the users better quality products.

We all know the bright future that console and high end PC games would see in the future, 3D gameplay is coming up already. Ground breaking graphics, amazing AI that some people say would one day let you talk to character in a casual manner which will take tactical and real time shooter by a storm. It will be surprising to see how smell as a component of gamplay will turn out. I am talking about far future, accepted, but we also know that HTML 5 will take several years to go completely mainstream? The online gaming experience will have to be improved too. A mammoth difference in the online gameplay and offline play is not possible and will not be accepted by anyone except our grandparents maybe who will continue to find todays technology cutting edge even 10 years later. ( no kidding, if a 80 something person wakes up in 2020 tomorrow and somehow the tech is the same as 2011 he wont think that technology hasn't progressed )

When people think of online games, they think of games which are not even comparable to the AAA quality games they play on their console or PC.
I think that Unity is leading a revolution that will be able to introduce a new category of online game. Games that don't compromise on quality, which can have good graphics of a "serious game " and can still have the touch and gameplay of the casual game.

Being a Unity user myself, I don't imagine ( and I don't even want to !) that Unity will fall out of popularity and all that I have learnt will be of no use.

Thanks for reading this comment. I hope that this big essay will not be received as spam, but I couldn't stop myself when I read the topic!

The book is quite helpful to understand and setup of Face book API with the Flash. This book is really useful to understand the flash player's application HTML template for Facebook Integration. This will be useful to understand how the events will be handled including the current sessions and javascript events. This book really help us to work on the permissions for the facebook and reading and writting Data by using the Graph API and loading the date using Facebook Query Language. This books helps user to understand how the comments and feedback will be loaded and added using Flash. Further, user can understand how to work on uploading, retreiving, Creating album using the uploaded images. Also deals with the membership details and other events which will help to change status details and invite friends.

This books helps us to understand all major functionalities involved in integrating the Facebook API using Flash and explains user step by step on how to proceed further with development using Flash. This really helps us out and play around with Facebook API using Flash Technology.
